first of all, i’m sick. it’s just a cold but it’s just not fair. not the way i was planning to spend labor day weekend, but then again i wasn’t really planning anything except some arting, so that’s been changed to knitting and resting, and not visiting my 101-year-old aunt, who had a mastectomy on thursday and was home safe and sound by last night. wouldn’t want to give it to her, after all. and buying clothing for the first time in months, online as always, and then the washing machine broke.
it had been clicking and, by the time i decided to put down the knitting and go see, it had stopped and there was a burny smell and it wouldn’t go. luckily, it had stopped on a draining cycle and was pretty much out, but didn’t spin and i just said o hell and got in the car and went to sears and bought another one. to be delivered next weekend. homeowners’ account, no interest for a year, labor day sales, yada yada. took an hour. i figured oh hell, it’s 10 years old. the one i replaced with it was twice that and still working but oh hell. then i picked up my computer repair from last weekend and tottered around walgreens and such and limped back home and wheezed a lot.
this evening before coming to bed i tried the machine again. and lo! it must have had some failsafe device for overheating or something, because it goes now. i will have to go back tomorrow and cancel sears. saves me $500, if this resurrection holds, which is good as i just spent a couple hundred on clothes, as i said, fort the first time in many months, if not years (first paycheck of the year was on friday.)
i’ve an ear out for clicking....
