worrying about money. what if the land doesn’t sell at all? this is ridiculous, of course, i have many months before this becomes a crisis if it does become a crisis, i’m several crises ahead. first i have to pick a realtor and do the certification program and get a job with the school district, before i can start worrying about not being able to live on the resulting salary without selling the land. so what’s this worry about all of a sudden? stop it!
i have today off until 4pm. when I go to NOLA for an evening shift. maybe i will make good money again, who knows? they’ve started having jazz on sundays, although the owner didn’t tell anybody, just sprung it on em so nobody knew except those who happened to be there, not me. but this sunday, and for the foreseable future. but tonight i have a regular evening shift, and i still enjoy being there. tomorrow is off and then comes sunday.
i signed yet more papers for the county yesterday, whichmeans the art job should start maybe next week but probably more like 10 days from now. i wonder if my unemployment check has deposited itself yet? this will be my first (and last) full one, two months, nearly, after leaving work. sigh.

I know I *should* be worrrying about money, now officially not having a job and being rather short on rainy day cash… but I’m not gonna coz, well, it seems like a lot of bother really.
and i know i shouldn’t, since i had plenty of time to plan for this, and did plan for this and those plans are in place, but that doesn’t seems to stop me. still, it’s not as much worry as it might be, i suppose.
when did your job officially end, then?
It’s been coming for a while (lack of my type of work - which isn’t programming) but officially… as of this week I’m unemployed. There’s a little bubble of hysteria when I say that word as I haven’t been in that place for a very long time - and last time two times were due to quitting what some people might call cushy jobs in the public service or moving interstate… but even then, there were options and/or spare cash. Sigh. Hysteria be gone! I’m good for it… work that is and have a very wide and varied network of friends so something will come up. Right? Right.
of course it will. do you get unemployment? my problem is that the part time stuff i get is less than unemployment, so i’m disincentivizzedddd
Yes. Going to put my name in today… just in case. Hopefully I’ll find work before then because unemployment benefits (known as the Dole in Australia) are not really enough to sustain myself in the manner to which I’ve become accustomed.
Work that pays less than unemployment. That’s just insane.
I’m going to send you happy vibes that will magically help you find a great job that also pays well (read a lot more than unemployment).
sending vibes, are you ready?
No, no… you don’t need to put your hands out… they’ll just find you.
Sending.....
NOW.
lotsa jobs pay less than unemployment. maximum unemployment in florida pays about half what i made in my last job. but the thing is, I do have a good half-time job, one that pays decently, if half-time, it just doesn’t start now until March 6. until it does, whatever i do make at the second half-time job (which pays less than unemployment) gets subtracted from my unemploymnet so i’m end up for free. are we following this? there will be a quiz. oh, wait, i’m not certified yet. just certifiable…
actually, I’m okay; i just don’t believe it. i’m doing the self-study to switch careers into teaching thing. but enough about me, don’t dawdle on the dole thing, i did and ended up losing money i could had because I didn’t hink it through.....figuring i’d be back at work or not, but i’d still get what i should have, not.
now, what i typed was “I end up working for free” but the gremlins, they don’t understand.
I’ll be putting my form in at lunch. Hmmm… got to head in the general direction of Boot’s work - I wonder if I could coerce her out for a coffe.
Life sounds complicated. I did follow… my mouth dropping open as I read. It seems like a bit of a dumb system. Australia’s current government (Liberal Party) is introducing work place reforms which may mean the same kind of minimum wages and lack of working conditions here. A good number of Australians got out there and protested but the government just shrugged their shoulders and said “so what” and continued on with their evil plotting for the downfall of Australia. Hopefully it doesn’t happen - or at least not to an extreme. Where’s the incentive for people to get out, work and contribute if they end up with less than if they stayed home and did nothing? It’s certainly insane. It creates a bigger gap between the Haves and Have Nots and in my opinion contributes to social issues.
Thumps head on table.
Re your last message, I know what you meant so I just read it as it should have been. Well, actually, I read what you wrote but my brain changed the text as it received it. It takes no notice of gremlins (except those that affect it, and then it’s not so much that it’s not taking notice - it’s more a case of it not even knowing it’s being affected by gremlins in the first place).
