yesterday was good and no-so-good. good, great, really, was the first session, the one for the girls, which was just as wonderful as one would dream. bright, eager little girls who responded beautifully and made great leprechauns and jumped up and down answering my questions. one little girl had to leave because her mom arrived and i later learned she threw a fit and was allowed to return to finish the class--when class was over she came over and put her head on my shoulder by way of a hug. the second session was with the boys and it was ridiculous. i later learned that only three had wanted to do it and the coach made the rest go, which i spoke to him about. they paid no attention, did nothing that i asked and made virtually nothing. they were out of there in 25 minutes. it was pointless. i told the coach that i would work with only one person if he had only one person, but the kids have to actually want to do it. sigh.
but anyway the whole experiene was more than positive overall. and i got a green light to set up a knitting class, i’m thinking maybe 4 sessions in April, perhaps even a drawing studio in the evening for the older boys, who want such a thing, i’m told. that means i would be going down there for three days a week and wouldn’t have but one day in at the center, but i think it would be a good thing. we shall see what works out. i’ll get a lot more experience that way, too.

It sounds wonderful, e. They’re lucky to have someone like you as their teacher.
I can well imagine you’ll be that person they fondly remember when they grow up. Just like my Mr Duffy. He played guitar you know.
