and another thing

rants

i’m no longer going to suffer telephone fools, gladly or otherwise.  when i forget and pick up the phone when it rings (i have an answering machine now, but sometimes i decide, usually wrongly, that i should pick the damned thing up anyway) invariably it is someone whom i don’t know, yet is still deficient enough in phone manners to, simply because they want to speak with me, demand “is this (my name, often mangled unrecognizably)”; may i help you, i chirp?; “is this (my name, often mangled unrecognizably)”; may i HELP you, i warble; “is this (my name, often mangled unrecognizably)”; i’ve asked you politely three times if i may help you, if you don’t respond to that i won’t help you; “but is this” and i hang up.

suckers, YOU called ME.  YOU call ME and demand i identify myself??  if you think you can demand information of any sort without even identifying yourself, just forget about it.  i don’t care what you want, you aren’t getting it from me. straighten up, i don’t owe you anything just because you called.  if you’re calling to give me a bimillion dollars, i don’t want it from the likes of you.  if i happen to run into whoever you are tomorrow and you tell me you tried to call me, i will spare your feelings and pretend i wasn’t home.  i never pick up my phone anyway.

this is MY life now and i’m playing it the way i want for once.

Hmmm.... list’s obviously aren’t allowed in here, could you remove list tags e? (unless you think they look kinda cool, then you can leave them there for people to admire in awe :))

and lists doesn’t have an apostrophe… I give up.

i’m leaving it all just the way it is, it’s delightfully mystifying.

we have a national do not call list here, which i’m on, and so i don’t get telemarketers; these are people who actually have my name and can’t be bothered identifying themselves.  i might even want to talk to them if i knew who they were, but telling me who they are is not on their agenda, it seems, and i have no intention of identifying myself to whoever they are.  thus, i hang up.

That’s just bizarre.

i’m like that, i guess

Not you.  THEM.  for not identifying themselves.

e, definitely go to this website.  It really does sort of work.  I get far fewer calls and the ones I do get, I seem to always respond to with, “ARE YOU NUTZ, I’m on the do not call yadda yadda yadd”

Makes me feel better anyway.  The morons.

i’m already on the do not call list, lin, but thanks.  it works just fine.  these calls are not telemarketers per se, probably credit card companies wanting to sell me something, or other, but their phone manners will get them nowhere with me.  it seems that no one teaches people anymore that you’re supposed to identify yourself BEFORE making demands.
