game over meme

may it be all different, and all your dreams come true.
I’ve decided to borrow this one from Dr. Summers as the answer to all “future” considerations…
my mood is… cheerful, a bit purposeful but somewhat cramped, as usual.
i proceed in all directions, and represent the hope of a young Englishman
sort of.
i don’t have enough experience in the business of teaching.
the three-day trainings for substitute teaching don’t start until the end of august, which means it will be september at the earliest before i can begin substituting.
there are seven (7) new art listings on the school district website, and the hiring is still frozen for another week.
from my last sub day.
i’m sorry.
we are, me and little mee.
this 2/3 semester that i’m teaching here is.

the year e

since 2006 is hereby the year of me, i here make a list of 10 things to be accomplished, in no particular order:

1. learn to spin

2. restore house and garden
3. knit all planned projects
4. downsize, downsize, downsize—sell possessions, streamline, stop acquiring
5. find work teaching art
6. continue making art
7. show art for possible sale

8. aesthetics thesis
9. regain health
10.stay afloat

looks like about 60%, but then that’s not weighted; adjusted for importance i’d call it 90.  for 2007 i’ll jettison 8., re-up on 3., 6., 7. and 10. and concetrate this time on 2., 4. and 9.

that is all.

phew

i began clearing out the place today. took me several hours in the afternoon and you really can’t see that i did much.  but i loaded half a dozen trashbags full of donations into the car, and a carpet, and three big boxes of trash out to the curb.  it’s going to take me more than the two weeks i have to get this place cleaned up, though.  i need to go through everthing, in a way i haven’t ever done, not even when i moved here.  i need to get all the junk out and find places for the stuff i want to keep.

i don’t have enough closet for my boots.  several expensive things have been ruined by insect damage, an anatolian carpet with moth, etc.  the front door almost gone through with termite.  those are expensive losses, but hey, that whole decade is down the drain.  i’ll be paying for it until i die or go bankrupt, whichever comes first, and what will i do with all the books???  don’t think about it, just keep clearing.

phew.

the problem

or one of them, anyway, is that i’ve lost my glasses.  both of them.  i had the ones by the bedside, which i kneeled on but supperglued back together (the frames) and they disappeared again so i moved the huge ones from the 80s from the study into the bedroom and now they seem to have run away with the spoon.  and even though i increase the text size several times, it doesn’t stop me from closing my right eye when i’m on this thing.  where can they be?  god knows.  i put them down somewhere, or they slipped behind something and are on vacation.

today i made an attempt at taking out a pile of trash from the studio.  i got a goodly amount out of the studio, although it hasn’t yet gone out the door.  i’m doing these things in very long increments, i see.

winding down

this 2/3 semester that i’m teaching here is.

image
finally got a chance to post some of the major projects we’ve done in the past two months, over there in my sketchbook linked in the left hand column.  they’re on kids make art, too, but i hadn’t done anything with that site since i left the county job, so it’s just, well, there.
